Sciton Halo is a  one-of-a-king, cutting edge laser treatment that can dramatically improve dull, sun-damaged and tired-looking skin without the downtime associated with traditional laser resurfacing procedures. Halo is a hybrid fractional laser that uses both ablative and non-ablative energy to the skin to remove damage in the skin’s upper layers while simultaneously penetrating deeper to selectively target vessels, deep dermal pigment and stimulate collagen production. This advanced technology addresses skin imperfections with less downtime and recovery than other laser treatments, and results are proven within one treatment. This treatment is perfect for fine lines, acne scarring, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, and uneven skin tone.

How HALO Works

The Sciton Halo is a hybrid fractional laser, which means it simultaneously emits two types of laser light to fractionally resurface the skin. A topical numbing cream is applied approximately 30-minutes prior to your treatment to maximize comfort and Halo laser treatments utilize an integrated cooling technology throughout to keep pain at bay. To begin each session, a sterile, disposable treatment tip is attached to the laser handpiece. The tip contains two small rollers, which allows the handpiece to roll across the skin in a back and forth motion. As the tip glides across the skin, Halo rapidly fires sequential pulses of laser energy. These pulses remove layers of damaged tissue and leave behind microscopic thermal injuries that jumpstart the body’s regenerative healing mechanisms. Old tissue is replaced by new, healthy tissue that’s smoother, brighter, and younger looking.

Am I a good candidate for Halo?

  • Halo is a great skin rejuvenation option for anyone, but it shows best results on patients who have texture issues, fine lines, and wrinkles. It's a perfect addition to any anti-aging routine.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

  • Because of the downtime and intensity of this treatment, it's recommended to have a consult with Dr L prior to your treatment. This way, your skin can be adequately prepped prior to the treatment. As always, it's best to limit sun exposure pre and post treatment.

What can I expect after my appointment?

  • You may experience a warming sensation (similar to that of a sunburn) for several hours post-treatment. After the heat dissipates, redness and swelling are common. Post appointment care will be discussing in your consult so you can ensure you're properly caring for your skin properly. Any discomfort can easily be managed with ice packs and/or over-the-counter medication.

  • Immediately following your treatment, you may see an initial ‘glow’ to your skin but it can take several days for dead skin cells to flake revealing the younger, healthier-looking skin. Over the next several weeks you will see gradual improvement regarding your fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation issues.

When can I resume my normal routine after HALO?

  • For the first 24-hours, it's important to maintain a special skincare regime. However, the majority of patients are able to return to normal activities and apply makeup the day after treatment.

  • Depending depth of laser, you may experience redness or swelling in the mid-face for up to 48-hours. For more severe cosmetic conditions redness, peeling, and swelling can occur 5-7 days following your appointment.

  • It's best to wait until your skin is fully healed or at least 2 weeks before implementing the following:

    • Heavy physical or chemical exfoliation

    • Acne creams

    • Extremely hot/cold water

    • Shaving

    • Activities that involve sweating such as working out for at least 48 hours

    • Consuming alcohol

How many treatments do I need?

  • The number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Dr. L will will determine the best regime during your consultation. In many cases, people are satisfied which one singular HALO treatment. Other patients require 3 treatments, 6-8 weeks apart to meet a desired outcome. Each treatment is about 30-45 minutes, but you'll need to arrive an hour in advance so photos and a numbing cream can be applied. Your face will also need time to cool after the procedure, so expect a minimum of 2.5 hours per appointment.
